Shane Darke, Julia Lappin, and Michael Farrell (at the University of New South Wales but also affiliated with King's College London and the UK's National Addiction Centre) provide a great clinical tool for specialists and GPs alike. Given it's brevity and clarity, it can be read quickly to get a comprehensive view of the health impacts of illicit drugs, or it can be used as a handy reference guide. It will help clinicians of all kinds get insight in both directions: to better recognize and diagnose illicit drug use (and/or substance use disorder) and, if that Dx is present, diagnose and treat the concomitant comorbidities associated with the use of exogenous neurotropic substances, which are all too prevalent (and under-diagnosed) these days.
